Psalm 89:19

I love peppermint. This oil is so versatile and has been so for many moons. We are old friends, though we were once enemies.

Many years ago I was pregnant with one of my kiddos. I had a brilliant idea to take a bath. I made a very very warm bath and then proceeded to add some oil to the bath. I got in and marinated until I started to feel shiverish. Understanding this was abnormal, I quickly showered and got out of the bath. Since my husband was at work and I was still shivering, I called my mother-in-law (the retired nurse). After she was done chuckling, she told me to drink warm water and bundle up.

That day I learned the importance of educating oneself in proper use of oils. I also learned that essential oils are oils and they just sit on top of water. *Please do not just place drops in your bath. There are many ways to integrate yourself with oils safely.

Peppermint is a great stimulant. It stimulates the senses. For a quick pick me up I will take a good whiff and go about my day. I also add it to my hubby’s lotion and steal some every now and then to keep me going.

Other uses for this European/North American native oil are as follows:

Joint pain reliever (when used with lavender)

Expectorant for allergies

Cool and soothing oil after a sunburn

Heartburn and stomach ache calmer—Stimulates production of bile for motility (now gives validation for my grandmother’s peppermints; not just my bad breath after food)

Nausea relief (sucking a peppermint)

Sore throat soother (peppermint teas are great)

Hair growth stimulator (I add it to my oil mix)

Bug repellent particularly for midges, mosquitoes and moths

Peppermint has multiple other properties of support such as: antibacterial; antiviral; anti-fungal; anti-inflammatory; appetite curbing effect.

What’s not to love?!

Recipe: Looking for a nice pick me up or fresh start to a day consider mixing 5 drops Peppermint and 3 drops Lemon oil to a diffuser. If this is too strong consider 1-2 drops less.

Wake up your senses! Catch a whiff of this jolly smell. Take care in not overdoing it and enjoy!

Optimized!
