Lovely Lavender

It always seems to me as if lavender was a little woman in a green dress, with a lavender bonnet with a white kerchief. She’s one of those strong, sweet, wholesome people, who always rest you, and her sweetness lingers long after she goes away.

Ohhh, thought I would never reach this gem. Nah! Everyone has an opinion about this jewel. I personally have a passion for this oil. I use it every day.

Lavender is an oil that can be used for so many purposes. It’s versatility makes it one of the most recognized fragrances. I am a proponent of education so I would like to encourage full understanding of this gem.

There are 2 distinctive kinds of Lavender. Lavandula Angustifolia and Lavandula Latifolia. The reason I emphasize the types is that one can be used as an “upper” or stimulant for many people (L. Latifolia/Lavandin) and the other is a “downer” or has more calming effects (L. Angustifolia).

Lavandula Angustifolia/Lavender is the gold standard. It is often called the “high altitude” lavender as it grows very well at higher altitudes. This may be why it does have a higher cost than it’s counterpart. It has calming effects and can be utilized many ways. It is a balancing oil that can aid in emotional balance or physical balance. It can be used as an antibiotic, anti-emetic, anti-fungal, respiratory supporting agent, anti-septic, skin repairing agent. In more recent findings, it has been known to decrease cholesterol. Very well known uses are for blood pressure management, skin conditions, burns, hair loss, and nervous tension. (Life Science c.Nov2016)

Lavandula Latifolia/Lavandin is a great contender. It can support the same calming principles but in many people it can encourage stimulation more than the opposite effect many desire. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties. It has an even stronger antiseptic property than lavender. It will greatly benefit individuals in respiratory, circulatory, and muscular ailments. I read this article and I believe it provides a beautiful explanation to the discussion. Take a look. How to choose the right lavender essential oil

When I make lotion I utilize this oil in my bedtime or restful lotion. I will diffuse it also if I need a release. It is great. I utilize Young living oils so I can personally track the oil quality.

Uses:

Place on a drop of oil on a cotton ball and inhale for a balancing treatment. Your nasal passage is packed full of sensory mechanisms to support memory recall and to support positivity and balance.

Utilize rejuvenation powers of Lavender by adding 5 drops to 1-2 cups Epsom salts in a glass jar. Allow the oil to mix in for a bit or shake (I say 30 minutes or more. I encourage hours so the oils set). Mix 1/4-1/2 cup of those salts in a bath or simply treat yourself to a foot soak.

Our feet are so porous and we forget how well they absorb the oils that will benefit us. You can take a dime size of lotion, add 1-2 drops Essential oil and rub the oil on the bottom of your feet. Yessssss! Soak it up!!!!

Love on yourself. Lavender is a great treatment to enrich the soul and cleanse the body.

Optimized!
