Nurse with the Light
Concierge roughly translated from French means “count of the candles." Concierge refers to many modalities of providing services to individuals who might otherwise not have opportunity. It provides alternate non judgemental options. In today’s world, a large fear we all harbor is that of not being enough. While we can openly embrace that God made us with intention of contentment, that we are enough, some still may struggle. We can continue to support those who may need individualized support services or needs.
Nursing is one area of care that has maintained its own level of concierge services throughout time. Nursing has evolved through its hundreds of years of provision from the community midwife with no formal training to Doctorate in Nursing we now hold in high esteem. Nurses hold the light in the lantern for those in peril and those who just need support.
Florence Nightingale lead the troupe of modern day nursing. She was often called “The Lady with the Lamp.” She paved the way for formality in nursing care and now we find ourselves in “The Year of the Nurse!” This year is exceptional as it continues to tell the story of one of the most trusted professions. It tells of the beauty and darkness of the profession. Shedding light on what a nurse truly is can open doors of understanding and it can open doors of unimaginable evolution in care.
