Burning Out

Galatians 6:9

Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

Caregiver burnout, also known as caregiver fatigue or emotional fatigue is now recognized to be a growing issue in our communities. Caregiver is a generalized title that covers a wide range of professional and nonprofessional models. It encompasses family, friends, neighbors, CNA’s, nurses, doctors, and so forth. We are all human so recognition in anyone is key to maintaining self in the way of being able to continue to care for others.

Medical staff often bear the brunt of care-giving needs. As a career choice, the love of the craft has weighed the burdens of the craft. Caregiver burnout is highly evident with medical staff. They focus on that self preservation but at times it is not enough to battle alone. The stress makes some people break. Watching for patterns within oneself is optimal in healing damages and maintaining a level life.

Symptoms can be very vague but also very self definable. Withdrawal from friends and family, loss of interest in activity, feeling “blue,” physical health decline, unabided anger, and difficulty sleeping are some examples of symptoms that may be brushed aside as dismissable. While we believe these symptoms are our own and no one else can possibly understand, there are droves of individuals who can relate on multiple levels.

Fight with knowledge. Empower yourself through learning how you can be the best version of yourself…and then your loved one. No one can fight for your soul like you can! There are many ways you can maintain this battle:

Smile Drink a warm drink Express your inner feelings Talk to yourself (positively) in the mirror Just say NO when needed Join a support group Laugh Dress up Research places who can give you reprieve

Bottom Line: Keep the light burning bright together in love!

Optimized!
