Coloring
My sister brought home a coloring book. It was full of mandalas. I thought it was clever of her but I didn’t put too much consideration into it.
Months later, I decided to calm the energy of the home after having family game night. I pulled out the coloring book and each member of the family colored a page. It was magical.
The kids whizzed through coloring but their experience was still transformative. They expressed excitement for what they had created and I noted a calmer and creative energy.
For me, I took 3 days to finish my picture. I decided to remain steadfast to completion of my picture. It was excessively therapeutic.
More studies are proving the physiological effects of art therapy. Coloring the mandala is one such therapeutic method of recentering the mind. Incorporating the color experience will influence vibrations interactions. Colors carry vibrational energy which in turn influence mood and behavior.
In addition, coloring allowed me to disconnect from watching the TV and it tapped into my healing focus. When we decrease the stress response in our bodies, we can improve a healing and healthier state.
Consider picking up a coloring book and learn more about your capabilities for creativity and mind centering.
