Immune Management
I just encountered an article in our local Natural Grocers magazine. It states:
A recent review in the journal of Nutrients revealed that a startling number of Americans are falling short in consuming nutrients that are critical for maintaining healthy immune function. The results of the review showed that 95% of American adults had an inadequate intake of vitamin D and 84% had an inadequate intake of vitamin E. Furthermore, inadequate intake was 45%, 46% and 15% for vitamin A, vitamin C and Zinc. (p.27 Natural Grocers Mothers Day)
What I appreciate about this article is that it sheds light on the lacking of food in support our immune function. I understand the need to support our bodies with supplementation.
Sometimes the issue is not just in the food consumption but rather in the state of the gut. Eating all the garbage bread carbs and leaving out the appropriate fruits and vegetables causes a constant inflammatory process which in turn makes it harder to absorb appropriate nutrients.
At times the issue is that location where you live can also be a factor. Ensuring that you are followed by your healthcare provider and getting managed appropriately is key. I got checked by my physician and have been continually checked. I also had to reevaluate my diet choices to allow for better absorption.
This is a massive challenge but the gift of clarity of mind and management of your body is without compare. It feels great. So manage your immune system accordingly. Your body with show its gratitude.
